Mother’s Day is a special occasion dedicated to honouring and celebrating mothers, motherhood, and mothers’ special influence on their children. It’s a time to express appreciation for the love, care, and guidance that mothers provide in our lives.
For many, Mother’s Day is a day of mixed emotions, especially for those whose mothers have passed away. It’s a time for reflection, a moment to remember and commemorate the special women who have meaningfully shaped our lives.
One example is with one of our Beyond “Biz” Heart-Centered Leaders, Rhonda Turner. She chose to honour her mother in the most beautiful way possible.
This Mother’s Day, Rhonda decided to relaunch a song that her mother had written when she was a child. The song “Reaching Out” is more than just a melody; it expresses the spirit of kindness, connection, and reaching out to others in need.
Her mom passed away in September 2013, and before she died, Rhonda asked her to share all the lyrics to her song. She has since reproduced the song with a music video. You will see at the beginning that she is playing her singing bowl, which is tuned to the heart chakra. Then it flows into Rhonda’s slightly altered version: “Let us love one another, let us reach out to each other; in your hour of loneliness, let us lend a helping hand.”
Rhonda’s decision to launch the song on Mother’s Day is a beautiful tribute to her mother’s legacy as a songwriter. It’s a reminder of the power of music to convey messages of love, empathy, and understanding.
